The \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d freight train keeps on rolling along\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Of course, some people think America was already great. \u00a0So they see all this rhetoric as just politically motivated hyperbole.<\/p>\n

Others think America was never great and now just got a whole lot worse.<\/p>\n

Then there\u2019s those who think America used to be great in some bygone golden age, but has now somehow lost her way and is in need of a savior\u2026or at least an extreme makeover.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s probably some truth in all views.\u00a0 But we think they all miss the most important point\u00a0\u2026<\/p>\n

Whose job is it to make America (or any society) great\u2026 again or for the very first time?<\/p>\n

As real estate investors, we care about economics, demographics, trends, and all the various macro-winds that blow around our investment vehicles.<\/p>\n

Our goal is to avoid headwinds and catch some tailwinds.\u00a0 Life is just easier with the wind at your back.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

So is Donald Trump going to make it better \u2026 or will he make it worse?<\/p>\n

Yes.<\/p>\n

Just like Presidents Obama, Bush 2, Clinton, Bush 1, Reagan, Carter, and every other President going back as far as you\u2019d like to go.<\/p>\n

Some people did better.\u00a0 Some people did worse.<\/p>\n

But how can that be?\u00a0 How can different people produce dramatically different results in the SAME economic and political environment?<\/p>\n

We hope the answer is obvious\u2026<\/p>\n

It\u2019s individual choice \u2026 and individual action.\u00a0 Emphasis on individual<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Each individual decides how to respond to external forces. \u00a0Challenges and opportunities are ALWAYS present. Which do YOU see today?<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been guilty of missing opportunities because we were fixated on some problem over which we had NO control.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

So instead of acting on what we did control, we wasted precious time, energy and focus on complaining\u2026 fretting over being stuck (in our own minds) by things we didn\u2019t control.<\/p>\n

Dumb.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, other people were busy taking effective action \u2026 using what they had, doing what they could, and seizing opportunity abandoned by other people paralyzed with fear, uncertainty, and doubt.<\/p>\n

Robert Kiyosaki and his investing partner Ken McElroy were AGGRESSIVELY buying real estate in 2009 \u2026 when most people were afraid and angry at corrupt banks, misguided government policies, corporate greed, and irresponsible borrowing.<\/p>\n

Was it justified to be angry at the people who played a role in imploding the mortgage and real estate markets?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Sure it was.\u00a0 We were.<\/p>\n

And it\u2019s certainly totally reasonable to be outraged when bad actors get bailed out \u2026 while the honest, responsible people who played by the rules get nothing.<\/p>\n

But if all you are is scared and mad, you miss out. Fear and anger don\u2019t make you money.<\/p>\n

And here\u2019s the bigger perspective \u2026<\/p>\n

An economically healthy nation consists of a collection of economically healthy states, which consists of a collection of economically healthy individuals.<\/p>\n

Which are YOU?\u00a0 And which do YOU control?<\/p>\n

Each of is part of a nation, a state, a community.\u00a0 But each of us <\/strong><\/span>are individuals<\/em>.\u00a0 We can only control ourselves.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s not selfish to focus the bulk of your attention and energy on your own<\/em> financial well-being. We\u2019d argue it\u2019s your civic duty.<\/p>\n

In the safety briefing on an airplane, you\u2019re told if there\u2019s a drop in cabin pressure, put YOUR oxygen mask on FIRST.<\/p>\n

Why?<\/p>\n

First, so YOU aren\u2019t a burden on others. And next, so you can help others.<\/p>\n

Yelling about how awful it is that the cabin lost pressure \u2026 and how stupid the pilot is \u2026 or how irresponsible the plane manufacturer is \u2026 while all that may be true \u2026 none of it helps.<\/p>\n

What helps is YOU taking care of yourself FIRST. Doing what needs to be done.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

First, don\u2019t be a burden.\u00a0 Next, create opportunity for others.\u00a0\u00a0 When each individual does this, the whole (family, community, city, state, nation, world) is greater.<\/p>\n

So no matter how you FEEL about what\u2019s going on in the world, remember\u2026 you probably have virtually no control over it.<\/p>\n

Does that mean it\u2019s \u201cfair\u201d?\u00a0 That everyone is dealt the same hand?<\/p>\n

Of course not.\u00a0 Every real estate investor knows every single deal is different.\u00a0 Every day is filled with diversity of circumstances.\u00a0 Real estate investing is FAR from a level playing field.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re not saying fair play, equal access and the things society strives for aren\u2019t important.\u00a0 They are.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re just out of your direct control.<\/p>\n

The surest path to making America (or wherever you are) great, is to take what the externals give you and find ways to make yourself great.<\/p>\n

If enough people do that, America and the world WILL be greater \u2026 one person at a time.<\/p>\n

For centuries, real estate has been a predictable wealth builder for average people \u2026 when they have the freedom to own it.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

From that standpoint, most of us have hit the lottery. Most of us live where we have the lawful right to own real estate.<\/p>\n

And no matter where you live, if you have that right, your country is already great.\u00a0 At least great enough for you to become great.<\/p>\n

Could it be better? Sure. And a great way to start is for YOU to own more properties that are profitable.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re not saying you shouldn\u2019t call out injustice or stand up to tyranny. \u00a0Of course you should … no matter where you land on the political or philosophical spectrum. Every voice has a role in the symphony of public discourse.<\/p>\n

Just remember the airplane. The MOST important thing is for YOU to stay healthy and strong.\u00a0 That\u2019s your first and most important contribution to the greater good. Real estate investing is a GREAT way to do it.<\/p>\n
